The Copper State Firebirds defeated the Snipers 20-5 Sunday to take the championship of the Snipers Shootout 9u baseball tournament at Ingleside Middle School.

The top-seeded Firebirds spoiled the Snipers’ first trip to a championship game. The Snipers overcame a 6-0 deficit to beat the Wolverines 8-7 in the semifinal. Pitcher Ryan Kelly kept the Snipers close, and in the top of the sixth with two outs, the Snipers scored six runs to take the win.

The Firebirds maintained their red-hot bats and knocked Kelley out of the game with a line drive that hit his arm and left an imprint of the baseball treads.
