After trailing by at least a run for most of the game, the Titans took the lead for good in the fifth inning thanks to a few breaks and the team’s patience at the plate.

After leading off the bottom half of the inning with a walk, Jake MacWilliam tied the game 4-4 when the Washington catcher sent the ball sailing past first base after Max Schuman’s strikeout. Colton Sanchez then entered the game as a pinch runner for Schuman and stole second.

Following walks to Michael Scannell and Andrew Serna, Sanchez scored the go-ahead run on Tim Janssen’s RBI groundout. Garth Miracle, who entered the game as a pinch runner for Scannell, scored on a wild pitch to put the Titans up 6-4.

The Titans added six more runs in the sixth to lock down the victory.

Brendan Satran and Andrew Naderer both collected infield singles to start off the inning. Satran scored a batter later on a double by MacWilliam. Freshman DH Schuman kept the onslaught going with a two-RBI single that scored Naderer and MacWilliam.

Arcadia scored three more times in the inning on a triple by Serna, singles by Janssen and Preston McLain and a Washington throwing error.

Washington took advantage of a balk in the first, an error in the third and a few timely singles in order to get on the board early.

Arcadia finally scored in the third inning following a leadoff bunt single by Satran. The speedy centerfielder scored from first on a base knock by Naderer thanks to a perfectly executed hit-and-run.

Arcadia reliever Gary Cornish entered the game in the fifth inning and pitched three innings of shutout ball, collecting four strikeouts.
