Gilbert High swept Mountain View in a girls volleyball match Tuesday at Gilbert.
The Tigers won 25-10, 25-17, 25-7.
In the first game, Gilbert quickly took the lead. middle blocker Milissa Peterson and iutside hitter Macey Gardner spiked effectively, scoring many points throughout the game.
Mountain View started out strongly in the second game. Gilbert then came from behind, winning the most competitive game of the night.
Gilbert sealed the win in the third game, with strong serving and a one-armed save from outside hitter Penina Snuka. Snuka, one of the two freshmen on the team, was a standout of the game.
The victory upped Gilbert’s overall record to 18-6. The Tigers’ only loss of the regular season was to Xavier College Prep, the top ranked team in the AIA power points.
Coach Joe Hesse hopes to keep up the momentum and continue the winning streak.
“I expect to win . . . we train year round and don’t take much time off,” Hesse said. |
