Sereno 97 Girls White beat the Scottsdale 97 Blackhawks 2-1 Saturday night in first-day girls soccer action at the Sereno Classic Tournament at Red Mountain Park in Mesa.
Julia Tuffori scored Sereno’s first goal 30 minutes into the game when she received a lay-off from Tessa Zaccagnio and beat the Blackhawk’s goalie.
Zaccagnio then scored herself, calmly finishing a shot on the ground from just outside of the 18-yard box after trapping a bouncing through-ball.
The first half saw equal possession, while the second was played mostly in the Blackhawks’ half.
“We have been playing really well,” said Sereno head coach Darwish Khali.
Sereno also won their first game of the day against Canyon PSA 3-0, and leads Bracket 1, while the Blackhawks beat Sting West 1-0. To see the rest of the U13 girl’s scores click here. |
