18u Division

Tucson Pure Lightning 7, Sugar and Spikes 6

Sugar and Spikes led 6-5 heading into the bottom of the sixth inning but let the game slip away by walking in two runs.

Amber Calvillot hit a two-run homer and also had a single for Pure Lightning.

Spikes starting pitcher Michael Pless went five innings and gave up only four runs.

Killer Bees 7, AZ Outlaws 0

Pitcher Andrea Wellins struck out five for the Killer Bees. Aliza Benetez paced the offense, scoring runs in the second, third and fifth innings.

Team Velocity 7, L'il Saints 2

Pitcher Sarah Andrews homered in the fourth inning to give Team Velocity a 4-2 lead. Andrews had three RBI and threw just 76 pitches in stopping the Saints.

Danielle Stansby stole two bases to score in the fifth inning. YaYa Rosthenhausler stole a base in the second and fourth innings.

Hannah Kridler drove in two runs for the Saints.

Tucson Pure Lightning 9, L'il Saints Gold 7

Amber Calvillot went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI for Pure Lightning. Robin Candrith was 2-for-2 with a double.

For the Saints, Brandi Gaffin homered and Rachel Meyer had two doubles.

Team Velocity 4, Killer Bees 3

Celina Martinez pitched for Team Velocity in their close win over the Killer Bees. Stephanie Tatham made a key play at shortstop in the fifth, fielding a grounder and throwing a runner out at second.

AZ Desert Cobras 10, AZ Outlaws 3

Shondra Cordova, Lyzette Creson and Alyssa Gutierez each homered for the Cobras.

Defensively, the Cobras turned a double play when second baseman Angelica Martinez tagged a runner out before throwing to first baseman Alyssa Gutierez to complete the double play.

AZ Outlaws Gold 4, L'il Saints Gold 3

Rachel Thompson and Kayla Austen pitched for the Outlaws.

For the Saints, Courtney Martin was 2-for-3.

L'il Saints 7, Tucson Shockwave 1

The Saints capitalized on four Shockwave errors to blow open a 2-1 game with five runs in the sixth.

Becca Wyatt went 3-for-4 and had two RBI for the Saints. Amber Berg singled once, walked three times and scored three times.

AZ Desert Cobras 10, Scorpio 1

The Cobras took advantage of several Scorpio errors, and Shondra Cordova, who hit a home run in the Cobras’ game against the AZ Outlaws, hit another.

Sugar and Spikes 9, AZ Outlaws Gold 8

Vanessa Acevedo went 2-for-3 with two RBI and a double. Arielle Cano also had two RBI.

For the Outlaws, Hattie Fullmer, Rachel Thompson and Taylor Benally each homered. Shortstop Marina Casas made a diving catch for an out and threw to second baseman Kirah Mueller to complete a double play in the final inning.

Team Velocity 9, AZ Outlaws 0

Sarah Andrews needed just 64 pitches, striking out four and shutting out the Outlaws.

Team Velocity took control in the third, scoring six runs.

YaYa Rosthenhausler and Stephanie Tatham each had two RBI for the winners.

L'il Saints 11, Scorpio 3

The Saints started quickly, with leadoff batter Tori Pogue getting a base hit and later stealing third. The team scored four runs in the inning, then increased their lead with one run in the fifth and five in the sixth.

Alexis Nixon scored three runs. Hannah Kridler hit a double in the fifth.

Sugar and Spikes 12, L'il Saints Gold 4

Sugar and Spikes scored four runs in the first and took control of the game with four more in the third. Alexis Roman had three RBI and scored three runs, and Megan Steffensmeier had two RBI and scored twice.

For the Saints, Megan Werbach was 3-for-4 and Destinee Luna 3-for-5.

Killer Bees 9, Tucson Shockwave 1

Lexy Pierson and Amy Tarnowski each scored three times for the Bees. Tarnowski also had two RBI.

Tucson Pure Lightning 11, AZ Outlaws Gold 1

Kelsie Lundgren’s grand slam in the second was the big blow for the Lightning. A key defensive moment for the Tucson club came when second baseman Shawna Comeaux caught a fly ball and threw to Gabi Ruiz at first to complete a double play in the fourth.

AJ DeVeny went 2-for-2 with two singles and was the winning pitcher.

Killer Bees 13, AZ Desert Cobras 1

Aubrey Downey reached base three times on bunts and scored twice for the Bees.

The Bees turned a double play defensively, from second baseman Jackie Hernandez to shortstop Courtney Hiruko to first baseman Andrea Wellins.\

Tucson Shockwave 10, Scorpio 0

Pitcher Ali Subia controlled the Shockwave, and the Tucson team capitalized on five Scorpio.

10u Division

Lady Diablos 11, Hotshots 2

The Diablos took control earlyn scoring five runs in the second inning. Makenzie McBride hit a triple to drive in a run, and Kaylee Dietrich hit an RBI single.

Pitchers Leah Molina, Madison Bradford and Lindsey Wilson were dominant with a combined 11 strike outs.

AZ Desert Cobras 23, Hotshots 3

Alexis Basurto hit a grand slam in the second inning. Each Cobras player ended the game with a hit and scored at least twice.

Lady Diablos 15, Desert Kaos 7

Alyssa Valerio went 2-for-3 and hit an RBI single in the first to pace the Diablos on offense. They scored eight runs in the third, capitalizing on seven Kaos errors.

Diablos pitchers Lilly Giller and Madison Bradford combined for seven strike outs.

Julia Ruble hit a double to drive in two runs for Kaos.

Lady Diablos 12, AZ Desert Cobras 2

Makenzie McBride finished off a strong day with a hit that bounced over the fence and drove in two runs for the Diablos. Lindsey Wilson and Kiara Kennedy each went 2-for-2 in the game. Kennedy scored twice.

The Diablos’ defense was strong, too. Catcher Kyleigh Ortiz caught a pop up in the first and threw to first baseman Leah Molina for a double play.

AZ Desert Cobras 8, Desert Kaos 1

Aleena Alexander had 10 strikeouts for the Cobras. Alyssa Camacho hit a double.

Julia Ruble scored Kaos’ lone run with a second-inning homer.

Desert Kaos 10, Hotshots 0

Drew Daye threw a two-hitter for Kaos.
